During a three day workshop with photojournalist Ed Kashi in Paris, I had the task to find a photographic story and shoot it in two days. So I was delighted to discover the Pigalle Basketball court, and it's colors and story.

The court was a parking lot before Ahmed decided to rent it from the city and transform it into an inner-city safe space for kids and into a work of art.

It is open every day, and everyone is welcome. Kids from the neighborhood and from much farther away come to play with each other. Their energy and play create a maelstrom of movement and color that fascinated me.

The art of the court is re-imagined regularly and always attracts a lot of visitors.
